How you can help... |

The Ashford Valley RDA Group have their own official paper collection skip under the authorization of the local Council. The Group benefits financially when the contents are collected for recycling, so if you live near Pluckley, please take your paper, cardboard, books, directories, etc, to the skip. Every little helps!!
Each year we endeavour to hold a grand fund raising event. RDA volunteers have helped to organise several Country Fayres, The Pluckley Ride, Charing Horse Show and this year we are holding our very own RDA Horse Show at Blue Barn Equestrian Centre, Ashford on 22 June. Schedules available, click here.
Sometimes members raise money for the group by taking part in sporting events. Our Chairman took part in a fun run, report below: |

ASHFORD VALLEY RIDING FOR THE DISABLED GROUP |
|
Being a self-fund charity Ashford Valley RDA has to find ways of raising funds and so on Sunday 2nd December 2007 I donned a Father Christmas costume, complete with beard and took part in the 6km run along Folkestone Seafront, along with just under 300 others. The weather was atrocious with a howling gale and pouring rain and so I was very glad of the waterproof suit under my outfit and also my green wellies. I am proud to say that when others had given up I battled on and completed the 6km and came in somewhat bedraggled about half way down the finishers, even managing a sprint over the line!!
Half the sponsorship raised by this now annual event goes to the charities chosen by Channel Rotary, which were The Pilgrims Hospice and Cancer Research UK. The other half I can donate to a charity of my choice, which of course was Ashford Valley RDA Group and thanks to some very generous people I was delighted to be able to put £292 into Group funds.
Watch this space to see whether or not I take part again this year. |
